ROTBIER (RED BEER)
Hints of malt and caramel in a bottom-fermented Hamburg speciality beer.

""Rotbier"" — white foam, amber-red beer color. Sounds somehow like Hamburg. A beer with quite a looong tradition. The brewers of Hamburg are said to have produced a red beer already in the early 13th century. This history gathered pace in 1536, when Joachim von Lohe sparked a movement with his “Fewrrothen” beers in St. Pauli. His red beer was so popular, the citizens of Hamburg came in droves to his “inn” on Pepermölenbek. The poor von Lohe could hardly keep up with his brewing.
A select, special malt mixture and “Saphir” aromatic hops lend our Rotbier a harmonious, well-tempered overall impression. Malty aroma with a hint of caramel.
This Hamburg specialty beer, with its hints of malt and caramel, is delicious with pepper steak, Carpaccio, poultry as well as grilled fish. It tastes just as delicious with semi-hard cheese. For dessert, we suggest sweet caramel puddings.
